The Association of United Women of the Province of Zondoma (AFUPZ) organized, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, an advocacy workshop where it asked the Special Delegation of the commune of Gourcy to strengthen awareness on social cohesion.

On September 18, 2024, the Association of United Women of the Province of Zondoma (AFUPZ) led a community dialogue in the meeting room of the Gourcy town hall, where one of the recommendations made by the participants was to strengthen initiatives to raise awareness among the population on actions and behaviors favorable to social cohesion and living together in the commune of Gourcy.

According to the president of the association, Adidjieta Sidibé, the advocacy workshop held on the evening of October 12, 2024 in the same room marks the beginning of the process of implementing this recommendation, in collaboration with the commune of Gourcy represented by the First Vice-President of the Special Delegation, Saïdou Mandé, assisted by the Acting Secretary General of the town ha
ll, Alassane Sawadogo.

“We hope that the municipality will, for example, establish periodic radio broadcasts on topics related to conflict prevention and management in order to constantly remind communities of the need to dialogue in order to live together in peace and harmony,” said the president of the association.

Before officially receiving the advocacy document from the president of the association, the First Vice-President of the Special Delegation, Saïdou Mandé, first congratulated the initiators of the activity for their vision, which, according to him, is in line with the missions of the community. He then promised to report to the appropriate authorities to follow up on this advocacy.

As a reminder, this activity is part of the implementation of the project “Strengthening the empowerment and resilience of women in the Northern region”, led by AFUPZ in collaboration with the West African Network for Peace and Social Cohesion (WANEP-Burkina).
