Zondoma/Food security: Gourcy chief offers three tons to vulnerable people

The Chief of Gourcy, His Majesty Naaba Baongho, offered three tons of rice to vulnerable people in the Zondoma province. The donation was presented on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 in Gourcy, under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nabé.

Sixty 50-kilogram bags of rice: this is the quantity of food offered by Naaba Baongho to the vulnerable population. This donation, although “modest”, is nevertheless of “great importance”, according to the High Commissioner of the Zondoma province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nabé, who presided over the official handover on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the High Commission of Gourcy.

“In this lean period, this gesture is welcome for the province, which has many internally displaced persons who have returned and who have found nothing at home,” said the province’s top official, who took the opportunity to appeal to the daughters and sons of the province, as well as to all those of good will, to follow the example of the chief of Gourcy and come
to the aid of a population in distress.

Upon receiving the food on behalf of the beneficiaries, the representative of the Zondoma provincial management in charge of humanitarian action, Tégawendé Jean-Paul Sankara, made a commitment to pass it on to the appropriate authorities.

“We thank the donor who, once again, has shown his solidarity with the vulnerable people of our province,” he added.

The distribution of food took place in the presence of the chief’s representative, El Hadj Boureima Ouédraogo, for whom this action is part of his traditional mission of solidarity, which the chief has always exercised.

It will be recalled that in November 2023, the Chief of Gourcy, at the head of the Council of Customary Chiefs of Zondoma, donated more than thirty tons of food to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the province.
