The province of Yatenga was able to achieve a success rate of: 79.94% in the CEP, despite the numerous difficulties linked to the security situation, said Salam Ouédraogo, Provincial Director of Education Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Yatenga (DPEPPNF). He dedicated this encouraging result to the courage and sacrifices of teachers as well as the vigilance of the Fighting Forces.

Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB): How did the 2023-2024 school year go in Yatenga?

Salam Ouédraogo : When we took office, there were basic education districts (CEB) in Kalsaka, Séguénéga, Kosouka and Rambo which were short of staff. This situation led us to make readjustments at the level of these CEBs to make up the deficit. Overall, we can say that the school year started well and went very well because the necessary lessons were able to be provided until the end. There was also respect for the hourly volume and teaching time. Certainly, there was a lot of disruption, particularly in the outskirts of the commune of Ouahig
ouya, Oula, Séguénéga, Kosouka and Rambo, resulting in occasional school closures due to insecurity. But overall, everything took place without major incident thanks to the courage of the teachers and the vigilance of the defense and security forces.

AIB: Can you tell us about the results of the CEP?

Salam Ouédraogo: We achieved a readjusted success rate of 79.94%. For this year’s exam, we recorded 9763 registrations of which 9425 took the exam, with a final 7534 admitted, not counting the independent candidates. We were really very satisfied with these results because it was an intention that materialized and it is the first time that the province has achieved such a performance to my knowledge. This constitutes a source of satisfaction for all those involved whose efforts and sacrifices were crowned by these good results. This is an opportunity for us to emphasize that the work plan, the ongoing meetings with district leaders and their management staff to discuss realities and difficulties have contribute
d to this result. They really played their role to the fullest. We make special mention of the CEBs of Séguénéga, Kalsaka, Kosouka and Rambo who achieved satisfactory rates because there were sacrifices to make up for teaching time by using non-working hours and days in order to meet the challenge. .

AIB: Your best wishes to education stakeholders for the 2024-2025 school year.

Salam Ouédraogo : The first wish we make is peace. Without stability, it is difficult to have quality teaching because teaching with fear in your stomach is really not easy. So, we hope that peace will return and that the populations will return to their localities to offer us a stable, favorable environment conducive to learning. The second wish is to wish better health to all the staff, so that when we resume, we are still mobilized and motivated to continue what we have started. We invite all stakeholders to mobilize around the school, because that is the essential thing. We really express our gratitude to them and say that we are
very satisfied with all the efforts and all the sacrifices they have made. We call on everyone to get more involved during the 2024-2025 school year in order to improve results and bring Yatenga province very high in terms of exam results. We wish happy holidays to the students, management and all workers in the educational chain.
