Women’s Sports Day: A look at bodybuilder Safoura Compaoré


Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment paid tribute to Burkinabè culturalist, Safoura Compaoré, on the occasion of International Women’s Sports Day celebrated this Wednesday.

The Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment focused on the athlete Safoura Compaoré nicknamed the ‘Amazon’ of Burkinabè bodybuilding, this Wednesday January 24, 2024 on the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day of women’s sport.

Launched into bodybuilding from 2020, Safoura is the first woman in Burkina Faso to have won a medal at the West African Bodybuilding Championship, held on July 15, 2022 in Ghana.

The athlete established herself nationally and then won the silver medal on July 15, 2022 at the West African bodybuilding championship in Ghana, the first Burkinabè female medal in this discipline internationally.

In 2023, she won two gold medals including one at the West African Bodybuilding Championship held in Ghana from March 16 to 19, 2023 and another at the IFBB Elite Pro MR Universe Afric
an Bodybuilding Championship, held from March 19 to 22. October 2023 in Nigeria .

These successes were achieved thanks to the support of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment, committed to the promotion and development of women’s sport in Burkina Faso.

This commitment is manifested through the actions and orientations of Minister Boubakar Savadogo, the aim of which is to make the flag of Burkina fly high in the concert of nations at the level of women’s sport.
