Tour du Faso 2024: the Minister of Sports receives the blessings of Mogho Naba

The Minister in charge of sports Roland Somda, at the head of a delegation, received on Tuesday at the royal palace in Ouagadougou, the blessings of His Majesty the Mogho-Naba Baongo, as a prelude to the organization of the 35th International Tour of Faso, the starting signal for which will be given next Friday, we learned Wednesday from the communication services of the said ministry.

“As a prelude to the 35th edition of the Tour Cycliste International du Faso, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Mr. Roland Somda, at the head of a delegation, paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty the Moogho Naaba Baongo, this Tuesday, October 22, 2024,” announced the communications department of the ministry in charge of sports.

According to the same sources, “Minister Somda had at his side his chief of staff, Mr. Tegviel Evariste Metuole Dabiré, technical directors, the president of the Burkinabe National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSB) Mr. Jean Yaméogo and the president of the Burkinabe Cycling Federation,
Mr. Amédée Ignace Béréwoudougou.”

The head of the delegation expressed his gratitude to His Majesty the Mogho-Naba for the efforts made for the benefit of sport.

Mogho-Naaba Baongo thanked Minister Roland SOMDA for this visit. He gave his blessings and advice so that the 2024 edition is a success.

His Majesty wished for mutual assistance between the National Organizing Committee (NOC) and the sports department, in order to offer athletes a beautiful celebration of the little queen. “The Tour du Faso is always a source of pride for the Burkinabe people and we have always supported it,” said the Moogho-Naaba.

This audience also allowed Minister Somda to take stock of preparations for the Tour du Faso 2024, and to request His Majesty’s blessings for the smooth running of this sporting event scheduled from October 25 to November 3.

Fifteen teams, including 3 from Burkina Faso, are expected at this Tour, the first stage of which will be run this Friday, October 25 between Koulbila and Tenkodogo (136km).

as Burkinabe Paul Daumont, absent for this 35th edition, who won the most coveted yellow jersey of the Tour du Faso last year during the 34th edition.
