The Tour de France complicated voting in French municipalities

PARIS: The Tour de France created additional difficulties for voting in the second round of early elections to the French National Assembly in a number of communes. This was reported by the BFMTV channel.

According to the source, it is for this reason that the Aube prefecture ‘granted exemptions to several municipalities in order to allow them to adjust the schedules of polling stations’.

The big cycling race was a new sporting obstacle for the election organizers. Their work was already complicated by the need to synchronize the vote with preparations for the Paris Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.

The results of the first round will be announced after the closing of the last polling stations at 8:00 p.m. (UTC+2). The French electoral code prohibits the publication of exit polls or any other forecasts before the end of the vote. Violation of this ban is punishable by a fine of up to 75,000 euros.
