Zorgho: The Municipal Special Delegation (DS) of Zorgho organized an accountability day on December 22, 2023 within the youth center. This initiative aimed to report on activities undertaken over the past year, demonstrating the commitment to transparency and good governance.

The day began with the official opening marked by a welcome speech from the President of the special delegation (PDS), Valentin Badolo and the inaugural speech delivered by the High Commissioner of the province of Ganzourgou, Mrs. Aminata Sorghum/Gouba.

Ms. Sorgho praised the Zorgho DS for organizing this important event for her, in promoting transparency and good governance.

She welcomed the remarkable participation of representatives of Village Development Committees (CVD), Civil Society Organizations (CSO), technical chiefdom, services and partner NGOs, proof for her of solidarity and their support towards local development actors. Ms. Sorgho/Gouba invited residents to actively inform themselves through legal channels, emphasizing
the importance of citizen participation in the management of municipal affairs.

She then gave the floor to the secretary general of Zorgho town hall, Ludovic Sanou who presented in detail the activities carried out in 2023.

Addressing the implementation of the deliberations, he presented the results of the census of occupants of the public domain and the allocation of infrastructure built by the Support Program for the Development of Local Economies (PADEL).

The census identified 1,118 occupants of public property, thus contributing to an annual revenue forecast of 33 million 753 thousand FCFA for the municipal budget.

In addition, PADEL successfully distributed 25 shops and 50 hangars, strengthening local infrastructure.

As part of the Annual Communal Investment Plan (PAIC), the DS invested 122 million 820 thousand 387 FCFA out of a forecast of 168 million 52 thousand 860 FCFA.

These funds, coming from the municipal budget, the Territorial Community Development Agency (ADCT), the mining fund and state
resources, were allocated to projects affecting education, drinking water, sanitation, health, electricity, and governance.

The participants warmly praised the DS for its initiative. Intensive questions were asked concerning in particular the maintenance of street lights, the use of mining funds, and the monitoring of the construction of infrastructure.

The President of the special delegation (PDS) encouraged participants to make recommendations for in-depth analysis by the town hall. He also expressed his gratitude to the partners ORCADE and OXFAM who supported this activity.

This accountability day highlighted the progress made in Zorgho, with transparent governance, active citizen participation, and concrete projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the municipality.
