The Mohamed VI Football Complex: A high place for the training of the king sport in Morocco

With an area of 30 hectares, with 4 natural grass fields, two others in synthetic grass, a covered field, clay fields reserved for beach soccer, complete infrastructure and at the cutting edge of technology… The Mohamed VI Football Complex is a major training venue aimed at making the Kingdom of Morocco, in the years to come, one of the best football nations in the world.

In the Moroccan city of Rabat-Salé, the Mohamed VI Football Complex has stood majestically since December 2019, erected under the high instructions of His Majesty of the same name. Indeed, having successful football teams at all levels, whether for the national teams or for the country’s clubs, is fundamental for the Kingdom of Morocco.

Quality training being a necessary step to achieve these objectives, colossal resources have been mobilized by the authority to make the Mohamed VI Complex one of the best crucibles of king sport in the world.

During a visit granted on January 23, 2024 to African journalists, including one from the AIB, d
irector Hassan Kharbouch expanded on the missions assigned to the Complex.

He explained that as part of the national football promotion policy, the promotion of grassroots football is encouraged at the grassroots. Football centers and academies then take care of the first recruitments before the elites arrive in this complex which has everything for cutting-edge training.

According to Hassan Kharbouch, the infrastructure includes, among other things, four natural fields, two artificial fields, a hybrid field, a beach soccer field and two half-fields for motor skills and coordination.

There is also an artificial covered pitch, a covered futsal pitch, an Olympic swimming pool and a 1000m² fitness room. The Mohamed VI Football Complex also has a sports medical center with consultation, rehabilitation, radiology, functional explorations and physiological recovery services.

A completely autonomous ‘5-star’ hotel was built within the Complex and made available exclusively to the Moroccan A football team. Four o
ther hotels with a total capacity of 400 beds accommodate the other residents.

It should be noted that the complex has a school where teenage girls are trained for seven years in school programs and the practice of football. For Mr. Kharbouch, this comprehensive training will allow girls who do not pursue a sporting career to be able to enter other sectors.

Finally, a building with numerous amenities houses the offices of the administration and the national technical direction.

Hassan Kharbouch indicated that the Mohamed VI Football Complex has already hosted around sixty international matches due to security.
