The ‘Hekiri Yanon’ association launches its activities in Houndé

The ‘Hekiri Yanon’ (ASHY) association officially launched its activities on Friday May 31, 2024 in Houndé, in the presence of the president of the special delegation of the commune of Houndé, Souleymane Dianda.

The ‘Hekiri Yanon’ (ASHY) association, which means ‘Awakening of consciousness’ in the Bwamou language, is the latest cultural association in the Tuy province. She officially launched her activities under the sign of resilience, on Friday May 31, 2024, at the Popular and Leisure Center (CPL) in Houndé. It was during a ceremony chaired by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Houndé, Souleymane Dianda.

One of the highlights of this ceremony was the theatrical performance of the work ‘The Suns of Independence’ by Ahmadou Kourouma. In addition, performances by artists, stories and poetry highlighting culture as a factor of peace and resilience allowed the members of the new association to commune with the public who came to support them.

According to the president of the asso
ciation, Boureima Nabaloum, ‘Hekiri Yanon’ is an association which aims to promote culture and the consolidation of peace in Burkina Faso, particularly in the province of Tuy. ‘Our association’s mission is to bring together different communities through varied cultural activities, aimed at strengthening resilience, encouraging dialogue and promoting social cohesion,’ he explained.

Boureima Nabaloum, who is also the artistic director of ‘Hekiri Yanon’, suggested that storytelling and theater occupy a special place in the cultural activities of the association.

‘We firmly believe that culture can play an essential role in building a peaceful and harmonious future for all,’ said the association’s president Hekiri Yanon.

The representative of the sponsor, El Hadj Inoussa Coulibaly, general director of the company Sabari TScheronat et BStiment (ESTB), thanked the organizers for having chosen him to sponsor this ceremony. He also wished the association good luck.

For his part, the president of the special munic
ipal delegation (PDS) of Houndé, Souleymane Dianda, welcomed the creation of this new association. He congratulated and encouraged the initiators of this cultural structure. According to the PDS, culture is a factor of development which allows us to affirm our identity and magnify our values.

According to him, this new association will constitute a springboard for strengthening the capacities of young people who dream of excelling in the cultural field.

As a reminder, the ‘Hekiri Yanon’ association has been carrying out awareness-raising activities through theater and storytelling in the villages of the Tuy province since 2021. However, the structure was officially recognized on April 24, 2024
