The government announces investigations into the PS accident which cost the lives of 9 people

Ouagadougou: The ministry in charge of Transport announced this Sunday that investigations ‘are underway’ into the accident that occurred on January 20 in PS, on the Ouaga-Bobo axis, having caused 9 deaths and 17 injured.

‘Hearing the conclusions of the ongoing investigations’, opened by the courts, the Minister of Transport, Urban Mobility and Road Safety, Anûuyirtole Roland Somda, recalled the need for everyone to respect the highway code and the caution, in town and in the countryside , in a press release made public on January 21 in Ouagadougou.

‘The minister calls in particular on the promoters of public passenger transport on their obligation to install speed limits on their entire fleet as required by the legal provisions in force,’ indicates the press release.

Mr. Somda presented his sincere condolences to the grieving families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

A violent collision between two passenger transport vehicles, at the western exit of PS, caused 9 deaths and 17 injuries, inclu
ding 8 serious, according to security sources.

The accident occurred on the largest interurban road, linking the country’s two main cities, Ouagadougou and Bobo, and known for the numerous fatal accidents recorded but also for its narrowness compared to the amount of traffic.

The expansion of this axis, which is very accident-prone, is integrated into the Ouaga-Yamoussoukro highway project, which has been seriously slowed down due to the terrorist crisis that Burkina is facing.
