The Burkinabe government commits to supporting women in the mining sector

Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government pledged on Friday to further support women in the mining sector so that they contribute to the country’s prosperity.

The Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Burkina Faso (AFEMIB) commemorates International Mining Women’s Day from June 14 to 15, 2024.

Yesterday Friday, during a ceremony, the Minister of Mines and Quarries Yacouba Zabré Gouba explained the need to support women in this sector.

‘My department is aware of the contribution of women in the mining sector and is committed to strengthening initiatives to support them,’ declared Yacouba Zabré Gouba.

According to the minister, women in the sector make an invaluable contribution to the prosperity of Burkina Faso.

For this, he continued, it is essential to create an environment where every woman can realize her full potential and contribute fully to the prosperity of the sector.

The government will strengthen the capacities of women through training and mentoring, improve their working conditions and pr
omote policies that promote equal opportunities and especially the inclusion of all women in this sector, said the minister.

According to the president of the Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Burkina (AFEMIB), Lucie Kabré, these days are an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women and tackle challenges so that ‘gold can shine for all women in Burkina.
