The arrival of world champion Iron Biby and the terrorist attack in Mali on the front pages of Burkinabe dailies.


The newspapers in their issues this Wednesday, echo the terrorist attack in Bamako in Mali and the arrival of the world champion of Log lift, Iron Biby.

“World Log Lift Champion: Iron Biby Welcomed with Honors,” is the headline of the public newspaper Sidwaya.

For the public newspaper, Iron Biby, whose real name is Cheick Ahmed al-Hassan Sanou, is back in the country after retaining his title of world champion in log lift, on September 7 in Birmingham, England.

The state daily emphasizes that he was welcomed yesterday, September 17 in the afternoon, at Ouagadougou airport by the Minister of State and Minister in charge of Communication Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo and his colleague in charge of Sports Roland Somda.

And the private daily, Le Pays, specified that after thanking God for his triumph, Iron expressed his joy at returning with a medal that he dedicates to the entire Burkinabe nation.

The colleague maintains that Biby declares that these are results that he did not acquire alone, but with the suppor
t of all the Burkinabe people. And this testifies to Burkinabe sporting excellence.

On another note, today’s daily newspapers are reporting the terrorist attack perpetrated yesterday, September 17, in Bamako, Mali.

According to the dean of private dailies L’Observateur Paalga, September 17, 2024 will be marked in the history of the fight against terrorism in Mali.

The private newspaper for its part continues that it was a terrorist attack which targeted a gendarmerie school located in the Faladié district of the capital Bamako.

For him, other sources at the same time mentioned an attack in the military zone located at Bamako-Sénou airport.

As for the public newspaper Sidwaya, a press release from the General Staff of the Armed Forces reveals that it was an attempted terrorist attack which was repelled by Malian armed forces.

According to the state daily, the army reassures the Malian population that the situation is under control while informing that the General Staff has invited people to stay tuned fo
r official information which will be broadcast regularly.
