Support for IDPs: Laafi radio in Zorgho hands over 5.65 tons of food for IDPs in Ganzourgou


Ouagadougou: Laafi radio in Zorgho organized an official food delivery ceremony to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the province of Ganzourgou , on Saturday January 13, 2024 . Chaired by the High Commissioner , Mrs. Ami nata Sorgho/Gouba and sponsored by the ‘ m algr -naaba ‘ of Boulwando, the event brought together various local personalities, beneficiaries and radio listeners .

The Radio Laafi compound in Zorgho was the scene of this humanitarian ceremony. In total, 77 bags of corn and 36 bags of sorghum of 50 kg each, or 5.65 tons of food were handed over. In addition to the food, a financial contribution of 100 thousand FCFA was paid to the public treasury to support the peace effort. These donations resulted from an active collection by the daughters and sons of Ganzourgou, responding to requests from the director of Laafi radio, Albert Tarpaga.

The High Commissioner, Ms. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, expressed her gratitude to Radio Laafi and highlighted the importance of the initiative in caring for di
splaced people. For her, this initiative brings peace to hearts, to families and to our country. She called for continued contribution to the peace effort and support of vulnerable host populations.

The director of the radio, Albert Tarpaga, sharing his vision said: ‘ The province of Ganzourgou welcomes displaced people every day. We are here to help the State overcome this difficulty and relieve our brothers and sisters. » He thanked the many contributors, including listeners and media partners, emphasizing the importance of unity in this humanitarian action.

Donors, including the Malgr-naaba of Boulwando and the CEO of the GERBATP company, Dominique Kaboré, were applauded for their significant financial contributions. Support from military and paramilitary authorities was also highlighted, highlighting the commitment of the community as a whole.

The sponsor of the event, Malgr-Naaba de Boulwando, underlined the crucial impact of these humanitarian actions and said he was available for future editions.

he figures, provided by the provincial director of Humanitarian Action, Patrick Paré, recalled the scale of the crisis, with a notable increase in IDPs since March 2023. He welcomed the initiative of radio Laafi, promising that the Food collected will be distributed equitably to beneficiaries in the eight municipalities under the supervision of local authorities.

This ceremony follows a first one held in June 2023 which saw the delivery of 11 tons of food collected and the payment of a sum of 700 thousand FCFA to the patriotic support fund. Radio Laafi, created in 2003 by the African Solidarity Association (AAS), continues to play a vital role in community solidarity
