The 2024 edition of the School and University Sports Union of Burkina-Faso (USSU-BF) of Sissili experienced its apotheosis on Saturday March 16, 2024 at the ‘Zio Abdoulaye’ municipal stadium in Léo. The Lycée As Salam Fido team won the final against that of the Lycée provincial de Léo (LPL), after the fateful penalty shootout, in the U20 category.
Launched on Saturday February 17, 2024, the second edition of the School and University Sports Union of Burkina-Faso (USSU-BF) U20 brought together 13 establishments from the province of Sissili, in the Center-West region.
The USSU-BF U20 2024 final pitted As Salam Fido high school against that of the provincial high school on Saturday March 16, 2024 at the ‘Zio Abdoulaye’ municipal stadium in Léo.
These two teams, visibly determined to set out to conquer the trophy, in order to be able to represent the province of Sissili in the rest of the competitions at the regional and national level, showed their talents to offer the numerous spectators at the stadium a ver
y lively final.
At the start of the game, the 22 players engaged in a real derby by multiplying the offensives on both sides with sometimes missed goal opportunities.
Against all expectations, the opening score came in the 8th in favor of Léo provincial high school thanks to bib 11 Koffi Sissao. Two minutes later, exactly in the 13th minute of the first part of the game, the number 4 of the As Salam Fido high school team, Aziz Kabré, set the record straight with a volleyball.
Despite multiple attempts, neither team managed to win against their opponent. They left back to back with the parity score of one goal everywhere at the end of regulation time.
It was at the end of the fateful penalty shootout that the As Salam Fido team showed itself to be more realistic and was able to dictate its law over its challenger with a score of 5 goals to 4 and thus won the final. of the USSU-BF U20 2024 of Sissili. In addition to the trophy, the victorious team got a set of jerseys and a ball and the unfortunate finalist
consoled herself with a ball.
The provincial director of sports and leisure of Sissili, Yacouba Compaoré, on behalf of the organizing committee, welcomed the commitment of the establishments to this edition. According to Mr. Compaoré, the USSU-BF is a necessity because it mobilizes students with the aim of detecting talents.
He took the opportunity to highlight a certain number of difficulties linked to the organization of the USSU-BF. This involved the late arrival of financial resources and the insufficiency of equipment.
‘Despite these difficulties, we worked hand in hand to represent our province with dignity at the regional and national level,’ maintained the provincial director of sports and recreation of Sissili.
Compaoré finally showed his gratitude to all the goodwill whose contributions made this edition possible.
