Sissili/Résifa Project: An NGO supports three villages with solar drilling equipment worth 80 million FCFA.

The NGO Helen Keller International (HkI) through the project “the path to Resilience and the empowerment of women” called Résifa / Kana Kolou organized on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in Néboun, in the rural commune of Bieha, a ceremony for the handover of market gardening perimeters equipped with solar boreholes worth 80 million FCFA for the benefit of three villages in the province of Sissili.

Helen Keller International, through the Résifa project, wants to promote the new model of innovative, resilient and efficient agricultural exploitation to structurally transform agriculture with three production cycles per campaign.

The creation of market gardening areas equipped with solar boreholes for the benefit of the beneficiaries of the Résifa project, the villages of Néboun, Lan and Vara in the province of Sissili, Centre-West region in order to boost the production of orange-fleshed sweet potatoes (PDCO) is part of this dynamic.

The representative of the beneficiaries, Abibata Nama, like the president of th
e special delegation (PDS) of the rural commune of Bieha, Alfred Zerbo expressed his joy for the choice of his commune to host this ceremony of handing over the three market gardening areas.

Mr. Zerbo said he was convinced that these investments will improve the living conditions of the beneficiary communities.

He also reassured the NGO Helen Keller International (HKI) and its partners of the commitment of the beneficiaries to take care of these infrastructures for their well-being.

According to HKI’s interim country representative, Régina Traoré Khassanova, the three market gardening areas cost the sum of 80 million FCFA.

She reported that 300 women farmers from the villages of Neboun, Lan and Vara in Sissili province are affected by the project.

The HKI Acting Country Representative said that these facilities will not only help produce fresh and nutritious vegetables and OFSP for home consumption, but also generate additional income for families, while improving access to water.

The High Commissioner
of the province of Sissili, Tewindé Isaac Sia, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude to Helen Keller International and to the donor for their technical and financial support.

Mr. Sia called on the beneficiary communities to take good care of these infrastructures and to mobilize all their energies so that these spaces are examples for others.
