Sissili: Medical equipment delivered to Léo’s maternity ward

Ouagadougou: The Ouagadougou fraternity lions clubs and MK-Onlus of Italy handed over medical-technical equipment to the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of sector no. 1 of Léo on Monday, August 5, 2024, during of the reception of renovation work on the maternity premises.

According to the organizers, the project to renovate the premises and provide medical-technical equipment to the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) in sector no. 1 of Léo was carried out as part of the ‘safe maternity’ program. and financed by Lions Clubs International: MK Onlus of Italy and Ouagadougou Fraternity of Burkina to the tune of 6,418,000 FCFA.

The president of the Management Committee (COGES) of the CSPS of sector no. 1, Emmanuel Nignan and the 1st vice -president of the special delegation of Léo, Saydou Yago thanked the donors for their gesture which will improve the care of women during childbirth.

For the head doctor of the Léo health district, Dr Aboubacary Abdou, the renovation and equipment of the CSPS
Léo maternity ward will undoubtedly reduce the risks linked to obstetric complications.

Mr. Aboubacary invited maternity staff to make optimal use and regular maintenance of these facilities for the well-being of the communities.

The opportunity was also for the donor representative, Evariste Zoungrana to salute the involvement of all the lions in the realization of the project.

He paid tribute to Solidarity Action and Endogenous Development (ASDE) for its technical support.

The representative of the sponsors, Ivonne Thiombiano/Nignan congratulated the High Commissioner of Sissili for his commitment to the well-being of the population in general and the health of women in particular.

She reassured the Léo health district of the availability of all Lions to always support health facilities, without losing sight of the importance of the health and well-being of communities.

To do this, Ms. Thiombiano called on local authorities to further clean up the maternity environment.

The High Commissioner of Sissi
li, Tewindé Isaac Sia expressed his gratitude to MK Onlus of Italy and lions Ouagadougou fraternity with the support of ASDE for their support.

He invited the sons and daughters of the province to synergize their efforts for harmonious development to the great happiness of all.

Mr. Sia says he is counting on everyone’s involvement to meet the challenges of environmental sanitation and the protection of the health and work places of CSPS agents by a fence.

The Nubian architectural type maternity hospital was built in 1953 and inaugurated in 1955 by the first advisor of French West Africa, the late Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the former president of Ivory Coast. The dispensary, for its part, was created in 1933 and inaugurated in 1939.

According to the testimony of the dean, Babiné Napon, this health temple was exclusively intended for the care of white settlers and their families.

‘The natives were treated under a makeshift hut set up just behind the dispensary for the occasion,’ he noted.

e CSPS of sector no. 1 of Léo is the first health facility in the province of Sissili.
