An Algerian delegation is participating in the 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO) with various local products, with the aim of introducing them to festival-goers.
“The authorities deemed it necessary for Algeria to participate in the 17th edition of the Ouagadougou International Crafts Fair (SIAO),” said the head of the Algerian delegation, Bouteba Ithri.
According to him, his country is present at the African crafts biennial with a varied range of local products in order to introduce them to festival-goers from diverse backgrounds.
Mr. Ithri said that these include, among others, copper products, date-based coffee, chocolate and its derivatives, coral jewelry and traditional clothing.
According to the head of the delegation, Algeria is known worldwide for its coral.
“We also offer organic products to festival-goers and visitors,” he said from his exhibition stand.
According to him, all these products symbolize Algerian culture as a whole.
Bouteba Ithri also took the opp
ortunity to deplore his country’s absence from the Ouagadougou craft festival for the past four years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He noted that two days before the opening of SIAO 2024 activities, the turnout was not yet there.
