The Senegalese government has launched a 25-year development plan aimed at strengthening economic sovereignty through competitiveness, sustainable management and good governance. Called “Senegal 2050: National Transformation Agenda”, the program foresees economic growth of between 6.5% and 7% per year between 2025 and 2029, a reduction in debt from 83.7% of GDP in 2023 to 70% in 2029 and an increase in average income from $1,660 to $2,468 in five years, i.e. +50%. The current unemployment rate is 21.6% according to the latest data. The plan also aims for universal access to water, electricity and health insurance.
