As Solidarity won the Rural World Association (AMR) Cup on Thursday, October 10, 2024, beating Espoir Foot in the final on penalties, on the provincial animal resources field of Yagha, by a score of 4 to 3.

As part of the implementation of the Community Recovery and Stabilization Project for the Sahel (PCRSS), the Rural World Association (AMR) was selected as a facilitating partner for the implementation of the project activities in the Sahel region. In the dynamics of their activities, a Maracaña tournament was organized.

Eight teams were competing in this tournament, the final of which was played on Thursday, October 10. It pitted the As-Solidaire team against Espoir Foot, with supporters of both teams coming out in large numbers. There were no goals in the first half. When play resumed, there was more of a spectacle than in the first half, to the great delight of the supporters, with no goals scored.

The difference was made in the penalty shootout. As-solidaire proved more skillful in this exercise of n

“The AMR remains available for resilience, the return of peace and will do everything possible to support young people in the search for peace wherever necessary,” he said.

The finalists saw their efforts rewarded. AS Solidaire won the trophy, a set of jerseys, a ball and an envelope of 75,000F, leaving Espoir Foot with a set of jerseys, a ball and 50,000F. All other participating teams were awarded prizes.

For Amadou Hama, known as Eto’o, “we liked this competition because it allowed us to meet up for entertainment in the city of Sebba. With the insecurity, there are no frameworks that allow the population to have fun. We want the association to be able to develop other initiatives for the happiness of the people of Sebba. We thank AMR with its partner who gave us a framework to boost the morale of the population.”

The competition was th
emed ” Sport, a factor of peace and social cohesion”. It created a framework for reunions for two weeks between the participating teams.

As a reminder, the PCRSS is an initiative of the Burkinabe government with the financial support of the World Bank.
