Scholarships and school kits for orphans of social security beneficiaries in Bobo-Dioulasso

The National Social Security Fund (CNSS) handed out scholarships, school kits, and food to orphans and widows of social security beneficiaries and vulnerable children on Friday, September 13, 2024 in Bobo-Dioulasso. This donation is part of the 8th edition of the fund’s solidarity program.

The Bobo-Dioulasso Regional Directorate of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) has once again sacrificed to its good Samaritan tradition. For the 5th year in a row, it has donated scholarships and school kits to vulnerable and orphaned children. The fund also provided food for widows of social security beneficiaries. The official handover ceremony took place on the afternoon of Friday, September 13, 2024 in the city of Sya. According to the Bobo-Dioulasso Regional Director (RD) of the CNSS, Désirée Larissa Oualy, the ceremony saw the renewal for some and the granting for others, of school kits and a cash envelope for 100 vuln
erable and orphaned children of social security beneficiaries of the fund.

The kits, she explained, are each composed of a school bag, notebooks and other school materials worth 25,000 CFA francs, and a scholarship worth 100,000 CFA francs. Speaking of food, 150 widows each benefited from a 50 kg bag of rice. The value of these various donations amounts to 12.5 million CFA francs for scholarships and school kits, and 4.5 million CFA francs for food.

Désirée Larissa Oualy specified that these donations targeted pensioners with the lowest pensions. For her, this humanitarian action is part of the institution’s desire to support the most deprived during this back-to-school period which is a period of anxiety for parents. Also, added the DR, the initiative responds to the government’s call for more mutual aid, solidarity and generosity among Burkinabés.

Gratitude of the beneficiaries

On behalf of the beneficiaries, student Zanté Abdoulaye expressed his gratitude to the CNSS. “The scholarships and school kits
awarded will alleviate our suffering and that of our parents ,” he said with emotion, before promising to make good use of what he received and to redouble his efforts for better results.

The Minister of State in charge of the Civil Service, Bassolma Bazié, patron of the ceremony, was represented by the technical advisor to the governor of Hauts-Bassins, Siaka Coulibaly welcomed the initiative of the day. “I congratulate the CNSS which has always known how to play its part in the development of human capital in the service of the nation” ,” he declared.

He also thanked the financial partners for their continued commitment to strengthening the education system despite the economic challenges facing the country. Siaka Coulibaly also stressed that this gesture strengthens social cohesion and called on the financial partners to continue their support for this aid program. As a reminder, this handover took place simultaneously in all the regional capitals. In total, 600 orphans and vulnerable children, 600 widow
s of CNSS social security beneficiaries will benefit from this surge of solidarity throughout the country.
