The rural commune of Kyon, located 12 km northwest of Réo, capital of Sanguié, has just updated its Communal Development Plan (PCD), with the financial support of the Agrifood Program for Integrated Resilience and Economic Development of the Sahel (Pro-ARIDES). The validation workshop for this PCD was held at the Kyon town hall on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Kyon’s previous Municipal Development Plan (PCD) expires at the end of 2024. To avoid navigating blindly, the municipality requested and obtained support from Pro-ARIDES for the updating of its PCD covering the period from 2025 to 2029.
With the validation of this new development plan, the municipality of Kyon is part of the dynamics of local planning, by defining common and negotiated objectives, which contributes to good governance and accountability at the local level.
This demonstrates Pro-ARIDES’ desire to support resilient and sustainable local governance, which will result in increased agricultural productivity and improved incomes for populatio
ns.
This planning makes it possible to update the real development needs of the municipality, to quantify them and to plan the implementation as well as the concerted management of resources for the coming years.
Development partners will therefore find projects there that they can support.
The president of the special delegation of the commune of Kyon, Harouna Zongo, invited technical and financial partners to provide their support to Kyon, which greatly needs it to progress.
Mr. Zongo also urged all the populations of Kyon to get involved in the implementation of the PCD.
He took the opportunity to express the population’s gratitude to the Pro-ARIDES program for the support provided during the development of the PCD as well as for the quality of the program’s interventions in the commune of Kyon.
The national coordinator of the program, Didier Coulidiaty, welcomed the commitment of the population and the decentralized services to support this process.
He invited the municipality to make this PCD the
benchmark for an integrated development of their municipality, taking into account aspects of good governance.
The validation of the PCD marks the culmination of a long, inclusive and participatory process to gather the needs of the populations.
It should be noted that Pro-ARIDES also supported, apart from Kyon, three other municipalities (Nanoro in Boulkiemdé, Bassi in Mouhoun and Bogandé in Gnagna) in updating their PCD, thus contributing to the improvement of local governance for a total amount of 38 million FCFA for the four PCD.
As for the High Commissioner of Sanguié, Talari Germaine Ouoba, she welcomed the commitment of the commune of Kyon in its development drive. She affirmed that her role, as a local supervisory authority, is to support the implementation of this PCD.
As a reminder, Pro-ARIDES is a programme funded by the Dutch and Danish Ministries of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the consortium SNV, CARE, WUR and KIT. This implementation is supported at the local level by partner organisa
tions such as FESCOPA-B, ONF-BF, AFDR and Tin Tua.
