A small town with great toughness, the city of Sanaba has become the totem of terrorists. For more than 3 years, it has resisted the attacks of terrorist packs, bending at times, always straightening up.
Located at the crossroads between Solenzo, Nouna and Dédougou, the locality has often served as a sanctuary for terrorists who have continued to attack the civilian population. Women, old people and children ended up leaving their homes to find refuge in Dédougou and surrounding areas.
A few days ago, on Friday March 15, 2024 in particular, the defense and security forces (FDS) and the volunteers for the defense of the homeland (VDP) carried out meticulous operations to clean the nooks and crannies of the city . The fighting forces quickly secured the city, combing through the terrorist shelters.
‘More than 30 terrorists, including wanted figures, were found and disarmed. Those who tried to retaliate were neutralized by self-defense fire,’ said a security source. ‘The survivors who did not digest mobilize
d to come and avenge their comrades but the bravery and determination of our men made Sanaba a totem for the terrorists,’ specifies another source.
These operations follow other interventions by elements of the BIR 18 supported by VDP which made it possible to cover the locality in lightning time.
Since then, a wind of security has been blowing in Sanaba with the national flag flying again over the city.
In places, the flag was raised as high as possible, on telephone antennas so that everyone could see it, especially since many residents had deserted the area.
Now, Sanaba has strengthened its security and defense provision organized around a detachment and determined men who began this week to welcome the population returning from their withdrawal.
