Deceased Monday, October 21, journalist Donald Wendpouiré Nikiéma was buried Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Goundrin cemetery, in the presence of his family members, colleagues and friends.

The world of the press is in mourning. The grim reaper has taken the life of the journalist at the editorial office of the daily newspaper Editions Sidwaya, Donald Wendpouiré Nikiema.

The news came like a guillotine on the afternoon of Monday, October 21, 2024, and spread like wildfire on social media.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, his family, colleagues and friends came together as one to pay their last respects.

From the morgue, to the family courtyard, to the church, sadness could be read on the faces. At the Goundrin cemetery where the man of the pen was buried in the evening, the pain was more intense.

This is evidenced by the message of the funeral oration read by the representative of the human resources department of the “common house” Nongdo Belem, on behalf of the Minister of State, Minister of Communicat
ion, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Government Spokesperson, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the General Manager and all the staff of Editions Sidwaya.

It emerges from the speech that the late man, born on July 15, 1976 in Ouagadougou in the province of Kadiogo, joined the civil service on July 18, 2012 and took up service

at Editions Sidwaya on December 17, 2012.

Little by little, like the bird that weaves its nest, he has shown himself to be essential in the functioning of the Common House, respectively in the positions of agent, head of the regional service of North Ouahigouya and recently deputy head of the society and culture desk at the management of the Editorial staff of Quotidien Sidwaya.

Through his very human way of communicating, Donald Wendpouiré Nikiema has always known how to spread good humor around him.

His superiors discovered his selflessness, his

constant availability every time they needed him during the great moments of Sidwaya.

His colleagues and superiors remember him as an
affable, helpful, dedicated and initiative-filled collaborator.

‘You are leaving us at a time when Les Editions Sidwaya, which you loved so much, needs all its agents to take on new challenges.

Your departure is therefore a great loss for us, but we remain convinced that with the Almighty you will assist us in our desire to meet these challenges,’ noted the representative of Sidwaya.

On behalf of the Minister of State, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Director General, and the Great Family of Editions Sidwaya, Mr. Belem wished that the free land of Burkina would be light for him. At 48 years old, Donal Wendpouiré Nikiema leaves an inconsolable widow and three children.
