As part of the month of “Pink October”, the mobile clinic of the University Hospital Center of Bogodogo (CHU-B), carried out a field trip on Thursday to the Medical Center (CM) of Saaba, for the free screening of precancerous lesions of breast cancer and cervical cancer in women and young girls.

“This morning, we are at the Saaba Medical Center (CM) to offer mobile clinic services, in terms of screening for precancerous lesions of the cervix and breast cancer,” said the Director General (DG) of the Bogodogo University Hospital Center (CHU-B), Seydou Nombré.

For him, it is a work in tandem with the team of the CM of Saaba, so that after the passage of the mobile clinic, there is always continuity in the care of the women.

Mr. Nombré spoke on Thursday in Saaba, during the launch of the mobile clinic of the CHU-B, for the free screening of precancerous lesions of the cervix and breast cancer in women and young girls.

“We are in the middle of the month of Pink October, the mobile clinic is only the offer of
services in advanced strategies in our health training, whether at the level of the CHU, the CM or at the level of the CSPS,” he said.

The CEO of CHU-B pointed out that services are provided internally as part of the ‘Pink October’ month.

The head of the hospital center welcomed the strong mobilization of women and hoped that they would be kept during this month of October and outside, for their free care.

The obstetrician-gynecologist at CHU-B, Dr Edouard Batonma Sombié, for his part, thanked the authority which provided the 13 regions of Burkina with mobile clinics.

In Dr. Sombié’s opinion, this is a major step forward in screening and care for women in the country.

“Today, the mobile clinic of the CHU-B moved to the CM of Saaba, with the aim of boosting the various precancerous lesions at the level of the cervix but especially this month of October at the level of the breast,” he added.

He also specified that the activities include, among others, awareness raising on self-palpation of breasts, detect
ion of suspicious lesions, screening for cervical or breast cancers and ultrasound examinations.

Dr. Edouard Batonma Sombié, for his part, urged the authority which provided the 13 regions of Burkina, to point out that the mammography examination concerns women and girls aged 40.

Patient Rokiatou Hien/Lengani welcomed the initiative of the CHU-B which allows women and young girls to be screened free of charge for precancerous lesions of the cervix and breast cancer.

Ms. Hien, also a teacher, noted that the month of Pink October allows women to discover themselves and their bodies.

She called on all her sisters to mobilize massively to get tested and know their cancer status.

After the Saaba CM, the CHU-B mobile clinic will go on Thursday, October 24, 2024 to the Koubri CM site for free screening of pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix and breast cancer in women and young girls.
