RTB-Sud-Ouest: Staff give their workplace a clean-up

As part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitments and Citizen Participation, the regional management of Radio-Television of Burkina (RTB) / South-West organized on Saturday, October 26, 2024, a cleaning operation of its work environment, marked by a mobilization of agents, listeners and viewers.

Equipped with machetes, rakes, dabas and pickaxes, the journalists, presenters, technicians as well as the administrative staff and listeners… of RTB Sud-Ouest, led by their first manager, Hamidou Kibsi Nana, stormed the courtyard of their headquarters for a vast cleaning and clearing operation.

This ‘clean RTB’ operation is part of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, initiated to encourage citizen action within public services.

According to the regional director of RTB-Sud-Ouest, Hamidou Kibsi Nana, this activity was launched in response to the call from his hierarchy to participate in the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation.

“We wanted, through th
is action, to set an example by taking care of our working environment,” he explained.

The operation brought together more than just RTB employees. Local associations, internally displaced persons, members of the provincial coordination of citizen monitoring, Dozo hunters and citizens who came individually to lend a hand.

Among the participants, Belem Zenabo, representative of the association of internally displaced women, testifies to this commitment: “As internally displaced people, we have chosen to actively participate in cleaning the RTB courtyard. We are all Burkinabè, and it is in solidarity and unity that we can make things move forward. This is why we have decided to mobilize today.”

The special delegation of the commune of Gaoua supported the operation by providing tricycles to facilitate the transport of the collected waste.

‘It was a blessing to see such a massive mobilization around this activity. The support of the town hall, with tricycles for garbage collection, was invaluable,’ added the
regional director, Hamidou Kibsi, Nana.

The latter expressed his gratitude to the regional authorities and the RTB leaders, whose support contributed to the success of this operation.

“Thanks to their support, we have been able to create a more pleasant and healthy working environment for all staff,” he stressed.

Before closing the day, the director expressed his warm thanks to all the participants and to the local community for their commitment.

“May Almighty God bless them and may each participant receive in return the benefits of this commitment in their respective families,” he said.
