Provincial consultation framework: The breath of development resumes in Ziro

Thanks to the action of the Combatant Forces, the breath of development has resumed in Ziro. The provincial consultation framework held on November 20, 2023 in Sapouy, made it possible to review the activities of the MODHEM+/DDC project and those of the Education and Taxes sectors.

The province of Ziro is experiencing a lull in insecurity in its communes. Development actors have resumed their actions to promote the development of populations.

During their ordinary session held this Monday, November 20, 2023, several themes were discussed.

The MODHEM+/DDC project took stock of its investments in the province. Led by the Dutch development organization SNV, this project takes place in three municipalities (Bakata, Dalo, Gao) with the construction of boreholes, livestock trails and around forty biodigesters.

As other achievements, animal resources technician Amédée Tiendrebéogo cited the establishment of the agro-pastoral information service (GARBAL) and the popularization of forage seeds.

According to SNV focal point François Sawadogo, this project aims to improve the mobility of livestock and the income of agro-pastoralists.

The issue of land security in the province received more attention from the participants.

It was the provincial tax director Inousssa Ouédraogo who developed the theme.

Land security is a prerequisite for any investment, said the tax agent.

After describing the importance of land documents, he listed the different types of urban and rural land occupations and their acquisition procedure.

The provincial director of education for primary and secondary education, Dramane Ilboudo, and his primary school colleague, Sidbéwendin Compaoré, spoke with participants about education in a security crisis situation.

It appears from their presentation that the province recorded 1,191 internally displaced students at primary level and 194 at post-primary level last school year.

Initiatives (reception in establishments and remedial courses) have been undertaken at all levels to relieve these internally displaced students.

They congratulated the social partners (unions and parents) for their flexibility which allowed them to meet the challenges.

High Commissioner Saïba Zoromé welcomed the actions of the defense and security forces, the VDP, in the province.

For him, the security lull observed is to their credit.

He hopes that the 8 primary schools and the 3 post-primary establishments still closed in the commune of Gao will be reopened in the days to come.
