Promotion of social dialogue: A government delegation to the FAIB

A government delegation, including the Minister of Security, Divisional Police Commissioner Mahamadou SANA and led by the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans, Brigadier General Kassoum COULIBALY, visited the headquarters of the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina (FAIB) in Ouagadougou on Thursday, October 17, 2024. This visit, which is part of the missions entrusted to members of the Government by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, aims to strengthen dialogue between the Government and the various social strata of Burkina Faso.

At the end of the discussions, the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans, Brigadier General Kassoum COULIBALY indicated that this meeting comes after the one that the Government had with the traditional chiefs. According to the Minister of State, it is the same message of national unity that was conveyed so that the Burkinabe come together to unite against the current challenges. “Our presence at the FAIB is part of the continuity of th
e missions that we received from the Head of State to dialogue with the different social classes that make up the Burkinabe people,” said Brigadier General Kassoum COULIBALY.

The delegation also stressed the importance of overcoming divisions to promote peace. “There may be some cracks and no one will come to glue these cracks. It is up to us to do it and it is this awareness, consciousness-raising that we are leading. If we are united and form a bloc, no one will be able to come between us to do anything,” stressed the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans, Brigadier General Kassoum COULIBALY.

The President of FAIB, Cheick Dr Sidi Mohamed MAIGA II welcomed this initiative of the Government and reaffirmed the commitment of the umbrella organization to peace and social cohesion. “For us, this exchange is welcome because it contributes to the return of peace in our country,” said the President of FAIB. He also invited the Burkinabe communities, particularly the Muslim community, to increase awar
eness and sensitization messages in order to facilitate the return of peace in the country. “For peace to return, it requires each and every one of us to make an effort with will and good faith,” insisted Cheick Dr Sidi Mohamed MAIGA II.
