Ouagadougou: Four contenders for the presidency of the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF) have submitted their candidacy to the National football technical center in Ouagadougou, awaiting their validation by the electoral commission for the votes on August 31, we noted.
The consensus around the candidacy of retired Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo existed with two other candidates: Rahim Ouédraogo and Ousmane Boly. For good reason, 3 other candidates submitted their candidacy.
After the submission on Wednesday of the candidacy of Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo, the president of AS Douanes Ali Guissou and the former international Jonathan Pitroipa followed with their application file for submission. The president of the 3rd division club Djawaba-Djawaba de Fada N’Gourma would also have submitted his candidacy before the three others. The electoral commission neither confirmed nor denied having received 4 applications when the question was asked by journalists.
After the differences, the candidates did not wa
nt to speak. ‘I cannot answer the questions because we are waiting for the validation of our file,’ declared Colonel Oumarou Sawadogo after submitting his candidacy file,’ said Colonel-Major Sawadogo.
Gabelou Ali Guissou made no statement. As for the former international Pitroipa, he said that “we have come to submit a dream, a vision, more than a candidacy”, while adding that he is “very confident” about his victory on the evening of 31 August, election day.
