Burkinabe Minister of Solidarity, Humanitarian Action, and National Solidarity Nandy Somé Diallo calls for addressing challenges to maximize the impact of women’s humanitarian action, on the sidelines of the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum in St. Petersburg.

“For humanitarian action to be more beneficial, it is desirable that a certain number of challenges be addressed. It is about breaking gender norms and mentalities that tend to marginalize women by excluding them from decision-making spaces in matters of peace and security. It is also about transcending the stereotypes that confine women to the role of victims in conflicts. It is also about deconstructing the structural factors that hinder women’s access to resources and information.”

According to the senior Burkinabe official, it is a question of mobilizing the resources necessary for the implementation of programs for the benefit of women and in the area of ??their rights to peace and security. “Women have always been key actors in humanitarian missions.
But their role must be strengthened to maximize the impact of their action,” she said.

‘Increased cooperation and concerted efforts on a global scale are essential to overcome the challenges and fully realize the potential of women in this field,’ the Minister stressed.
