Niger is preparing, in addition to the Zinder refinery, to build a new refinery and a petrochemical complex in the Dosso region scheduled to begin operations at the end of 2025.

The Minister of Oil, Barké Bako Maman Moustapha launched the work of the Technical Committee responsible for monitoring the project process on Friday June 7 at the general directorate of hydrocarbons in Niamey.

‘We have a schedule which leads us to start the activities of this refinery in the last week of December 2025, that is to say that we are today practically 18 months from the start of the project,’ said recalled Minister Barké.

‘What remains to be done today is the selection of strategic partners and the start of work.’ ‘And this committee that we have set up must have this project in mind, to devote all the efforts it deserves so that it is carried out on time and in the best possible way,’ added the minister. oil cited by the Niger Press Agency (ANP).

The technical committee is made up of 22 members and will be responsibl
e for preparing the notice of expression of interest, analyzing the offers relating to the technical and financial proposals for the project, developing the draft memorandum relating to the project or even participating to all negotiations of projects and agreements linked to the project, reports the ANP

The Dosso refinery will produce at least 100,000 barrels per day ‘but it will be set up in a modular way to allow us to accelerate the process and for this a pre-feasibility study was carried out by our services’, indicated the Minister Barké.

Niger is putting in place production and transport infrastructures that could allow it to multiply its current production by five, from 20,000 barrels/day to 100,000 barrels/day and establish itself comfortably among the oil producing and exporting countries.
