Nahouri: The local management charter for the ‘Timouna’ forest adopted


Nahouri: The members of the special delegation of Pô adopted on Tuesday January 16, 2024, during their first extraordinary session of the new year, the local management charter of the ‘Timouna’ forest of the village of Songo 2, in the said commune of Pô. This session was chaired by the president of the special delegation, Valérie Bama.

In her introductory remarks, the president of the special delegation of the commune of Pô, Valérie Bama invited the members of the special delegation to frank and fruitful exchanges, so that the local charter for the management of the ‘Timouna’ forest of the Songo 2 village, submitted to their assessment is beneficial for the populations after its adoption.

For him, this charter will strengthen social cohesion and peace between rural stakeholders in the exploitation and sustainable management of forest resources.

Mr. Bama specified that it will also promote good governance of natural resources, the implementation of concerted, harmonious, sustainable and equitable developmen
t of the municipality.

For the president of the environment and local development commission, Lionel Bahoupè Tahoura, who presented the Songo 2 village land charter, its development was done in a concerted and consensual manner.

Mr. Tahoura indicated that several actions and activities have been listed, with a view to preserving the natural resources of this forest.

Thus, the twenty members of the special delegation present voted unanimously for the deliberation on the village land charter for the exploitation and management of the Songo 2 forest.

The traditional chief of the village of Songo 2 who led the delegation to this session expressed all his satisfaction towards the special delegation and its partners for this initiative.

Listening to it, the charter will be beneficial for populations and future generations. It is committed with its entire population to taking appropriate actions for its effective implementation.

For the development of this charter, the commune of Pô benefited from the support
of the general directorate of land, training and rural organization.

Note that a management committee will be set up and will work together with the populations and rural technical services to implement the various activities
