Nahouri/Commune of Ziou: 48 hours to magnify craftsmanship

The Noongtaaba association of craftsmen from Ziou, province of Nahouri, organized on March 15 and 16, 2024 in Ziou, the first edition of Ziou trades, to promote and promote the trades. The ceremony was chaired by the president of Ziou’s special delegation, Salam Marané.

Initiated by the Noongtaaba de Ziou association, the first edition, scheduled for March 15 to 16, 2024 in Ziou, is intended to be a platform to promote and promote talent in creativity in various professions such as hairdressing, weaving, masonry and sewing.

Parades, artistic arts exhibitions and traditional dances marked the official launch of the activities of this emerging edition under the theme: ‘Social cohesion between sons and daughters of Ziou’.

According to the president of the Noongtaaba association of artisans of Ziou, Maimouna Sia, this edition, beyond its festive aspect, is a framework for strengthening social cohesion between sons and daughters of the commune of Ziou.

‘It is also a channel for the promotion of tourism, a cont
ribution to the valorization and perpetuation of our cultural values through the exhibition of woven loincloth and traditional clothing,’ said Ms. Sia.

The president took the opportunity to list some of the difficulties encountered by the town’s artisans.

Maimouna Sia cited among other difficulties, the sale of traditional clothes and woven loincloths often seized and considered to come from Ghana, the non-recognition, at the provincial and national level, of the certificates issued to learners and the lack of financial means for the installation of learners leading to the migration of some to Ghana.

‘Added to this is the absence of a training center for artisans,’ she maintained.

The president of the Ziou special delegation, Salam Marané, welcomed the great mobilization of the populations and expressed his satisfaction with this initiative.

For him, the enthusiasm of populations around this activity shows the interest they place in entrepreneurship.

Marané invited the sons and daughters of the town to
support the initiative in order to perpetuate this activity which will undoubtedly contribute to improving the living conditions of young people.

The High Commissioner of the province of Nahouri, also guest of honor, Auguste Kinda, praised the association for this initiative.

He indicated that craftsmanship is considered an emerging sector, full of opportunities for young people, at the same time that he recognizes in this festival a framework for promoting social cohesion essential to the restoration of peace in Burkina Faso. .

This first edition was sponsored by the economic operator resident in Ouagadougou, El hadj Issouf Tapsoba and Ouin-soundé Sia, sons of the locality.

As a reminder, the Nongtaaba de Ziou association brings together weavers, hairdressers, tailors and masons.
