The Djouatiina Association, which means ‘hope of tomorrow’ of Pô, organized on March 22 and 23, 2024 in Pô, in the province of Nahouri, the third edition of the day of the widow of Nahouri. C It was under the presidency of the governor of the Center-South region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma/Sanou.

It is under the theme: ‘Widows of Nahouri, what future does tomorrow’s society have in store for you, what fight should you lead on a daily basis to escape the yoke of the filthy suffering that has been imposed on you? », that the Djouatiina Association of Pô organized the third edition of the day of the widow of Nahouri.

For two days, activities including training in saponification, a conference on the education of children and gender-based violence and a popular cross called ‘combative cross’ were organized.

The association’s general secretary, Kadoua Wetta/Abem, painted a gloomy picture of the widow.

‘This picture boils down to, among other things, the accusation of witchcraft, levirate and humiliations of all
kinds which bruise their hearts, destabilize their families and slow down all kinds of development projects in their lives,’ she said.

Added to this is insecurity and the terrorist crisis which have contributed to increasing the number of widows over the last ten years.

Ms. Wetta urged widows to make this framework an opportunity that allows them to give themselves courage after difficult times due to widowhood.

She said she was convinced that this framework will allow these widows to become aware of their role in society, before inviting them to use the tools acquired to raise awareness and educate their children.

For the governor of the Center-South region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma/Sanou, this day is full of emotion because widows experience enormous difficulties and widowhood is not inevitable.

This is why she invited people of good will to support this association which has shown itself positively on the ground.

Based on the theme of this third edition, the Governor praised the mobilization of wome
n around the activities of this day and invited widows to play their part for a Burkina Faso of peace and cohesion.

‘Because it is together that Faso will succeed in the challenges of the moment,’ concluded Ms. Nacoulma.

The Guardian Angels of Nature (AGN) and the Wedjiguidam cooperative, partners of the association, gave 13 bags of corn and sorghum of 50 kg to the widows.

In addition to the corn, the AGN offered a community meal to the widows.

The ceremony was sponsored by the economic operator, El hadj Zakaria Tapsoba with the support of the NGO, the Guardian Angels of Nature (AGN).
