The ‘Nab Yikienré’ or the entry and official installation of Naba Koanga, new chief of the village of Doumtinga in his palace, took place on June 29 and 30, 2024 in Doumtinga in the canton of Saponé, province of Bazèga.
Enthroned on September 5, 2023 in Ouagadougou by the Mogho Naba Baongo, emperor of the Mossis, Naba Koanga, the new chief of the village of Doumtinga in the canton of Saponé, officially took office in his newly built palace. The official ceremony of the entry and installation of the new leader by the delegation of around ten emissaries of the Mogho Naba Baongo began in the afternoon of June 29, 2024. This ceremony took place in the presence of a strong mobilization of sons and daughters of all ages from the village of Doumtinga and the populations of neighboring villages.
The ceremony, which continued the day after July 30, attracted a large number of people in a festive atmosphere. In the morning, it was the populations of the districts of Doumtinga who, through delegations, opened the ball
of greetings and congratulations while pledging allegiance to their new leader majestically installed on his throne. Each delegation while imploring God and the ancestors, addresses their prayers and wishes for a long and peaceful reign to the leader. Following them, other delegations, notably from neighboring villages, traditional chiefs of the area, relatives and friends from various backgrounds congratulate the chief and also wish him an excellent reign.
Naba Koanga, 4th in the line of Doumtinga chiefs, now occupies the vacant throne since 2008 following the death of his predecessor. He thanked the populations of Doumtinga for the strong mobilization and their support and invited them to cohesion and unity for the development of the village. He also thanked his customary hierarchy and made a mention of the government of Burkina Faso for the establishment of the day of traditions and customs every year from now on. The party and the incessant ballet of the delegations continued late into the evening.
