Ouagadougou, Rabat “city of lights” and capital of the Kingdom of Morocco, has been designated by the American magazine “Conde Nast Travell” in its global guide to the Best Places to Visit in 2024, a -t -we learned from sources close to the Cherifian kingdom.

In its presentation, the American magazine talks about trendy music festivals, renowned architecture, luxury hotels, emphasizing that the year 2024 brings a wave of new developments to Rabat, one of the four imperial cities of the country which, he notes, “has long been ignored by travelers attracted by the centuries-old beauty of places such as Marrakech, Fez and Tangier”.

But the situation, assures Conde Nast Travel, could change this year, because the city of Rabat is in the middle of a cultural, artistic and urban reinvention.

One of the most notable attractions that we talk about a lot is the future Mohammed VI Tower which is predestined to obtain LEED Gold and HQE certification, and to become the tallest and only spire of its kind in Africa.

The American magazine also talks about the new Grand Théâtre de Rabat which will soon open its doors near the highest tower in the Kingdom.

It is one of legendary architect Zaha Hadid’s unfinished works, which includes an 1,800-seat theater, an experimental performance space and a 7,000-person amphitheater, as well as green spaces and a restaurant.

This theater, the magazine adds, is expected to be the largest venue of its kind in Africa and the Arab world and will host performances of symphonic music, ballet, opera and philharmonic (all scheduled before the end of 2023).

Another highly anticipated cultural attraction is the return of the Mawazine festival in 2024, after a break due to COVID-19.

There is no information yet on the lineup, but in the past, Africa’s largest festival has attracted celebrities such as Rihanna and Mariah Carey, recalls Conde Nast Travel.

The specialized magazine also mentions the opening of several luxury hotels which will facilitate the stay of visitors in the city, citing among others, the brand new Fairmont hotel in Marina Rabat-Salé and the Conrad Rabat Arzana which both mark the beginning of ‘a new era of modern luxury in the Kingdom’s capital.

This also includes the highly anticipated opening of the Four Seasons Hotel Rabat in Kasr Al Bahr in late 2023, as well as the Ritz-Carlton Rabat Dar Es Salam.

In its global guide to the Best Places to Visit in 2024, the magazine “Conde Nast Travell” finally ensures that Rabat promises an exceptional experience for travelers looking for unique discoveries in 2024. Burkina Faso Information
