Ouagadougou, Morocco strongly hopes that Africa, whose voice is now audible within the Group of 20 through the African Union, can find its rightful place in other international bodies , indicated HM King Mohammed VI.

In a message addressed to participants in the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which are being held from October 9 to 15 in Marrakech, the Sovereign assured that “as an African country , Morocco strongly hopes that the Continent, whose voice is now audible within the Group of 20 through the African Union, can find its rightful place in other international bodies and thus implement its economic and social agendas. “.

The countries of the Continent are among those most affected by climate change, while their contributions to activities causing global warming are among the lowest, wrote His Majesty the King in this Message, which is read was given by Mr. Omar Kabbaj, Advisor to His Majesty the King.

The Sovereign called, in this regard, for the readjustment of the rules and frameworks governing the treatment of the problem of debt so that the constraints encountered by the most indebted low-income countries in dealing with climate change are taken into account. .

“Africa, which will be home to a quarter of the world’s population in 2050, must benefit today from the conditions that will allow it to strengthen its margins of maneuver, to take advantage of its potential to better respond to the needs of its population, in a world that is increasingly uncertain and marked by profound paradigm shifts,” said His Majesty the King.

The Sovereign also recalled that Morocco had made South-South cooperation its priority axis of openness, stressing that “We are proceeding in this according to a co-development approach with brother and friendly countries of the Continent”
