Ouagadougou: Modeste Yirbehowre Somé, economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been appointed resident representative of the IMF in Cotonou, Benin, AIB learned from the institution.
Holder of a doctorate from the University of Montreal and an engineering statistician-economist diploma (ISE) from the National School of Statistics and Applied Economics in Abidjan, Mr. Somé has worked on countries including Mali and Morocco at the IMF before being assigned to the Asia and Pacific department.
A former student of the Training and Research Unit in Exact and Applied Sciences at the Joseph Ki-Zerbo University of Ouagadougou, he taught economics at the University of Johannesburg for three years and served at the World Bank before joining the IMF in 2018.
The native of Dissin (Ioba) is expected in Cotonou in September 2024.
