The female staff of the Regional Directorate of Post-Primary and Secondary Education (DREPS) of Boucle du Mouhoun, visited the children of the Sainte Cécile orphanage in Dédougou, on Friday March 22, 2024. It was during the commemoration of the 167th International Women’s Day on delay.

Each time International Women’s Day is celebrated, the female staff of the Regional Directorate of Post-Primary and Secondary Education (DREPS) commemorate this celebration in a different way through a charitable activity.

For this year, the Sainte Cécile de Dédougou orphanage was chosen, on Friday March 22, 2024.

The women were supported by the department in charge of Promoting Inclusive Education and all the staff of the DREPS Boucle du Mouhoun.

For Justine Nikiema/Tamini, from the service in charge of promoting inclusive education, this action is part of the celebration of March 8 in a different way.

‘We wanted to mark this day with an action of solidarity towards vulnerable people and our choice fell on the children of
the Saint Cécile orphanage in Dédougou,’ she explained.

She expressed her gratitude to the nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, for their charitable actions towards children in vulnerable situations.

A financial envelope was given to the head of the orphanage, Sur Jeanne d’Arc Sawadogo, for the orphans.

The head of the orphanage thanked the delegation for the gesture which will help them in their missions.

‘We have around forty children at our level. We try to give them the maximum of what we have for schooling and education on all levels. In addition to the quarantine, we have former pensioners who are in town with tutors to continue their education. We provide them with follow-up in order to complete their education and integration,’ she explained.

The Sainte Cécile de Dédougou orphanage is a structure created and managed by nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception on mission to Dédougou.

This center has been working for more than ten year
s on the education and schooling of abandoned and orphaned children.
