Kombissiri: A sixty-year-old accidentally killed by a belt mill


Ouagadougou: A woman aged around 60 years old was killed on Wednesday in a mill in Kombissiri, because the veil she was wearing accidentally found itself in the gears of the machine, an AIB journalist learned on site from witnesses.

A tragedy took place on the morning of January 17, 2024 in sector no. 2 in the Tampourtenga district of Kombissiri, Bazèga province, South-Central region.

A sixty-year-old woman died in a mill, strangled by the veil she was wearing.

According to the mill manager, Boureima Ilboudo, the victim arrived as usual at the mill on the morning of Wednesday January 17, 2024 between 7 am and 8 am to grind shea almonds.

While the crusher was running, it came closer to the machine and its veil was unfortunately sucked into the machine’s transmission belt.

The speed and shock of the action unfortunately did not save the victim.

By the time the manager and those who were on site found solutions to cut the belt and the veil intertwined in the machine to free it, it was already too late: The
poor lady had already given up the ghost.

For the manager, this is the very first time he has seen such a tragedy after thirty years in the business.

After the findings made by the security and health services, the victim, a resident of the village of Yanga located approximately 10 km from Kombissiri, was buried in the town cemetery.

We recall that a similar tragedy took place on June 15, 2021 in Lalgaye in the Koulpélogo province in the Center-East region.
