The High Commissioner of Ioba Province, Bernadette Adenyo née Sermé, paid a visit to the non-formal basic education center (CEBNF) of Dano, on Wednesday March 20, 2024, during which she urged the learners of this center to stop frequenting gold panning sites.

Wednesday morning was exceptional at the non-formal basic education center (CEBNF) in Dano. Indeed, since its opening in 2020, this is the first time that a provincial authority has visited the CEBNF. The High Commissioner of Ioba, Bernadette Adenyo/Sermé, and her delegation were welcomed by the head of the Dano basic education district, Romaric Somé, and the director of the center, David Somé.

The first person in charge of the province and her entourage visited the classrooms constituting the workshops at the same time. At the CEBNF in Dano, learners do transcription in the Dagara language in the first and second year.

They are also trained in cutting/sewing and wood carpentry, explained the director of CEBNF. In total, 118 learners attend the Dano
center in the 1st , 2nd and 3rd year of learning.

Those in the 3rd year will take the professional qualification certificate (CQP) exam at the end of the school year, said David Somé. The head of the basic education district of Dano, Romaric Somé, noted some difficulties which hinder the smooth running of CEBNF activities. He cited, among other things, the insufficiency of working materials (fabric for cutting/sewing and wood for carpentry) and the electrification of the center.

He maintained that the CEBNF parents’ association makes its contribution but cannot cover all needs.

The provincial director of preschool, primary and non-formal education of Ioba, Adama Néya, invited the director of CEBNF to continue communication and exchanges with the hierarchy and the special municipal delegation in order to find endogenous solutions to reduce and minimize the operating problems of the CEBNF.

The prefect, president of the special delegation of the commune of Dano, Denis Zanré, said he was satisfied with the vi
sit to the center. He made a commitment on behalf of the special delegation to help training learners who have no place to occupy the public domain. In addition, they will be exempt from paying the public domain occupation tax for three years, declared the PDS. The High Commissioner congratulated the students for their choice to learn a trade and become professional in it. ‘We have seen young people very committed and passionate about the different professions they have chosen. This reassures us more because learning at the CEBNF will make it possible to discipline these young people and protect them from the evils that undermine our societies,’ she underlined. Ms. Adenyo advised the learners to move away from frequenting gold panning sites. She encouraged them to be diligent in order to be able to produce quality work at the end of the training.

Bernadette Adenyo/Sermé congratulated the director and teaching staff of CEBNF Dano and reiterated her availability to lead advocacy for the improvement of working
and learning conditions.

Great achievements of the learners were presented to the head of the Ioba province and her delegation.
