Ouagadougou: The Burkinabè Minister in charge of the Digital Economy, indicated Wednesday in Bamako that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can contribute to the fight against armed terrorist groups in the Sahel.
‘ICT is an essential contribution to our legitimate fight against the forces of evil in many ways,’ said Minister of Digital Economy Dr Aminata Zerbo/Sabane.
The minister spoke on June 25, 2024 in Bamako during the 2nd edition of Mali’s digital week where she shared Burkina Faso’s vision on the theme: ‘ICT as a factor of resilience in the face of the multifaceted crisis in the Sahel, opportunities and challenges. ‘
According to the minister, digital technology plays a strategic role in the fight against insecurity that the Sahel states have been waging for years.
New technologies are essential in defense and security actions to monitor, inform, but also fight, continued Minister Aminata Zerbo/Sabane.
As a reminder, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, united within the Alliance of Sahel S
tates (AES), have pooled their resources to fight against terrorism which strikes their populations and threatens their existence.
