Houet/Commune of Bobo-Dioulasso: The green brigade celebrates its Silver Jubilee


The women of the association ‘Les Amazones de la Cleanté’ of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso held a panel on Saturday, February 24, 2024, on the occasion of the 72 hours of the silver jubilee of the green brigade, at the Maison de la Culture. It was under the sponsorship of the godmother, the Minister of Solidarity, Humanitarian Action, National Reconciliation, Gender and Family, Nandy Somé.

There are 1,012 women from the green brigade who reaffirmed their eco-citizen commitment and their attachment to a healthy living environment to the municipal authorities during the closing ceremony of the silver jubilee.

The green brigade, since its creation in 1998, recalled the president of the association ‘the Amazons of cleanliness’, Bibata Sanou, aims to preserve and clean up the streets and public squares of the municipality.

This is why, she continued, the commemoration of this jubilee was placed under the theme ‘Commitment and Hope’.

Introspection of the history of the green brigade, the achievements, the diffi
culties encountered, and the prospects were the subject of a panel organized on Saturday February 24, 2024 in Sya.

Listening to Ms. Sanou, the green brigade is faced with numerous difficulties in carrying out its missions.

These include the incivility of certain road users, physical attacks, the lack of respect towards the women of the brigade and traffic accidents.

She also indicated the lack of protective materials in quantity and quality.

Therefore, Bibata Sanou, on behalf of the association, pleaded with the municipal authorities and the godmother, Minister of Solidarity, Humanitarian Action, National Reconciliation, Gender and Family, Nandy Somé, for support for women in the event of work accidents.

Faced with these concerns, Nandy Somé expressed her availability to support the women of the green brigade.

According to her, women do ‘important’ work for the visibility of the municipality.

‘I send you my encouragement and I will seek the support of goodwill to improve your working conditions,’ assur
ed the Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action.

During the ceremony, the women of the green brigade did not remain indifferent to the situation in the country.

They walked their talk by handing over food estimated at more than one million CFA francs to Minister Nandy Somé for the benefit of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland ( VDP).
