Hadj2024: Burkina Faso strengthens its COVID surveillance system

Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Health assured Wednesday that the surveillance mechanism system, which already includes COVID-19, has been reinforced at all points of entry into Burkina Faso territory, after cases of COVID detected among Hajj pilgrims in certain countries in the sub-region.

‘The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene is following with the greatest attention the situation of deaths occurring among certain pilgrims during the 2024 Hajj and the cases of COVID-19 reported by certain countries among their nationals returning from the Mecca.

Fortunately, for the moment, the situation in the Burkinabè contingent remains classic in view of the data from the medical team and the Burkina Faso embassy in Riyadh.

However, as a precautionary measure, the Government has decided to put in place a system to strengthen the surveillance mechanism which already includes COVID-19 among the diseases under surveillance.

Hygiene reassures the entire Burkinabe population that measures have been taken to strengthen surveillance in all health structures and at entry points to the national territory in order to ensure screening, diagnosis and management of possible cases.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene invites people to go to the nearest health center in case of any cases of fever, cough, difficulties, chest pain in any person or in any pilgrim. returning from Mecca.
