The chief of staff of the Ministry in charge of Human Rights, Bepoadi Sinini, presided over, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in Fada N’Gourma, the ceremony of retrocession of a center with an area of ??7,000 m2 , dedicated to minors in conflict with the law, by the SHALOM movement.

Created 50 years ago, the SHALOM movement, which has been working in the humanitarian and sustainable development fields since 1988 in Burkina Faso, officially and graciously handed over its CASA MARCO center, with a surface area of ??7,000 m2 , on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, to the Fada N’Gourma prison administration.

The estate has been built since 2010 and includes a bakery and equipped workshops including a carpentry workshop.

The founder of the SHALOM movement, Andrea Pio Cristian, indicated that this retrocession on the part of his structure demonstrates the collective will to build a more just and inclusive society.

Also, he added, this event marks their collective commitment to justice, peace and human rights.

Andrea Pio
Cristian said the center will serve as a platform to raise awareness, train and mobilize citizens around the values ??of peace and respect for human rights.

The director of the cabinet of the Ministry in charge of Human Rights, Bepoadi Sinini, declared that the center will strengthen the reception capacities of penitentiary establishments dedicated to minors in conflict with the law.

“This jewel will further humanize our detention centers because not only could these minors in conflict with the law learn trades that would facilitate their social integration after their sentence has been served,” stressed the chief of staff.

Mr. Sinini added that this desire to humanize our prisons is part of the policy of the President of Faso who wants these places of detention to become places of learning and production.

On the sidelines of this official presentation, Andrea Pio Cristian and another member of the delegation of the SHALOM movement, were awarded medals of honor by the prison administration on an exception
al basis for their friendship and their dedication to the sustainable development of Burkina Faso.

“My structure is ready at any time to support this returned center as long as the prison administration expresses the need; all that remains is training,” said the founder of the SHALOM movement.

The SHALOM movement, which means ‘peace’ in Hebrew, embodies fundamental values ??such as solidarity, tolerance and respect for the rights of each individual.
