Gourma / Regional Directorate in charge of Eastern Agriculture: Bassirou Mandé takes the reins

The new regional director of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources in the East, Bassirou Mandé, was officially installed in his position on March 19, 2024 in Fada N’Gourma.

Appointed to the council of ministers during its meeting on February 21, 2024 as regional director in charge of Eastern Agriculture, Bassirou Mandé was officially installed by the secretary general of the Eastern region, Siaka Ouattara. He replaces Sibiri Ouédraogo in this position.

The new regional director expressed his gratitude to the highest authorities of the country who showed their confidence in his modest person by putting him at the head of this regional structure. He also praised the work accomplished in the implementation of the 2023-2025 agropastoral and fisheries offensive by the team he has just joined.

. ‘I already understand the scale of the task that awaits us because this responsibility requires us to be rigorous at work, available, self-sacrificing and, above all, cohesive within our team. We are convinced tha
t the sacred values of unity and frank collaboration will be the foundation on which our collective success will be built,’ declared Mr. Mandé.

The secretary general of the region set out the main missions of the new regional director, among which is the implementation of government policy on agriculture, animal and fisheries resources in the Eastern region.

In this context, declared Mr. Ouattara, the new director’s mission is notably to contribute to the design and formulation of the implementation of control and monitoring-evaluation of the ministry’s policies and strategies in matters of agriculture and animal and fishery resources at the regional level. Mr. Ouattara bluntly provided advice that could help the new regional director assume his new functions.

So, he told him: ‘You have in front of you members of established bodies, NGOs and projects available to support you until you prove to us that we cannot support you.

Be open, available and sincere with the regional directors you find there.’ Bassir
ou Mandé is a livestock engineer by training. Before his appointment, he held several positions of responsibility in projects and programs as well as in the public service
