The high commissioner of the province of Gourma, Silas Nacanabo, chaired this Saturday, June 22, 2024 in Diapangou, the communities day for the strengthening of social cohesion in the city of the warrior.
Burkina Faso has been going through a period of security crisis for more than eight (08) years which has had a negative impact on living together and social cohesion in some places.
It is within the framework of preventing the deterioration of peace that a community day to strengthen social cohesion in Diapangou was organized on Saturday June 22, 2024.
The president of the special delegation (PDS) of Diapangou, Jean Youma, suggested that his administrative district which extends over an area of ??573 km2 has thirty-one (31) villages and is home to several communities such as the Gourmantché, the Zaogo , the Fulani and the Yadsé.
Unfortunately, noted Mr. Youma, the phenomenon of insecurity, the town of Diapangou and many other villages have welcomed several thousand internally displaced people who have fl
ed areas with strong security challenges.
The PDS of Diapangou has indicated in recent times, community conflicts have been recorded here and there on its territory and these conflicts tend to undermine living together and social cohesion, hence the birth of a climate of widespread fear.
‘The organization of this communities day aims to prevent the deterioration of peace by strengthening social cohesion,’ added Jean Youma.
The representatives of the different communities of Diapangou are unanimous that their living together must be based on values ??of acceptance of others, forgiveness and wisdom. So, they are committed to making Diapangou a locality where peace reigns.
The high commissioner of Gourma province, Silas Nacanabo, was delighted to see the different communities under the same umbrella to celebrate Communities Day.
He invited the disputed leaders of these communities to perpetuate and work to keep the flame of peace and living together in this commune because, according to him, peace is not a
definitive achievement but rather a permanent conquest.
So, to materialize his question, Silas Nacanabo planted a tree by all of these communities at the Diapangou ‘A’ primary school which is a temple of knowledge, a temple where one can acquire the wisdom which is a fundamental value in the search for peace.
‘Take care of this tree, I won’t be there.’ But I would like each time that living together wants to deteriorate that you remember that you should meet under this tree that you planted together to look for a responsible solution,’ insisted Silas Nacanabo.
The authorities visited the exhibition stands of agropastoral and artisanal productions and attended traditional dances of these communities.
