The Regional Council of the Order of Physicians of Bobo-Dioulasso organized, on Saturday, October 26, 2024 in Gaoua, a panel dedicated to medical liability, bringing together doctors and trainers from the city. This space for reflection made it possible to exchange good practices to improve patient care and strengthen medical safety.

Exercising medical practice in complete peace of mind, with gestures and actions that reassure the patient, such is the main objective of this panel held in Gaoua between doctors, under the banner of the Regional Council of the Order of Physicians of Bobo-Dioulasso.

Under the leadership of Dr. Bakary Traoré, regional health director for the South-West and chair of the session, the discussions focused on the need for safe medical practices and precise actions to protect patients.

Dr. Bakary Traoré stressed the relevance of this type of meeting, stating that “the importance of this framework for exchange is of definite benefit to the health system.”

“It is an important activit
y for doctors in the region, because it allows colleagues to discuss the responsibilities surrounding each medical procedure, even the simplest,” he said.

Present at the ceremony, the Secretary General of the South-West region, Robert Zougrana, praised the commitment of doctors in their healthcare mission. “Health issues are cross-cutting. It is essential that all stakeholders contribute to this effort to support doctors, on the front line for the well-being of our populations,” he said.

The president of the Regional Council of the Order of Physicians of Bobo-Dioulasso, Dr Ollo Roland Somé, reminded practitioners of the importance of morality and ethics in the profession.

“Medical responsibility is a commitment to life. It is crucial that every physician practices with heightened awareness of his or her actions, putting the patient at the heart of decisions,” he said.

In parallel with the panel, a social unit for the South-West region and focal points of the Regional Council of the Order of Physicians of
Bobo-Dioulasso were set up, thus strengthening the support network for health professionals in the region. As a reminder, the Regional Council of the Order of Physicians of Bobo-Dioulasso brings together the four regions of the West: the South-West, the Hauts-Bassins, the Cascades and the Boucle du Mouhoun.
