Ganzourgou/Professional training: 65 girls learn careers in Zorgho

Zorgho, The Cr i de cur Association for Equity and Development (ACCED), in partnership with the NGOs Children Believe (CB), OCED-Ouagadougou, OCADES-Koupéla, OCADES-Fada and CREDO-Zorgho organized the 5th edition of its holiday camp introducing young girls to careers. The closing ceremony of the camp took place on Thursday September 28, 2023 at the association’s headquarters in Zorgho.

From September 19 to 28, 2023, 65 young school girls aged between 14 and 18 from Fada NGourma, Koupéla, Ouagadougou and Zorgho took part in a career initiation camp at ACCED headquarters in Zorgho, Ganzourgou province, in the region. from the Central Plateau;

This workshop, the 5th of its kind, allowed the girls to try out a certain number of professions that could allow them to combine school and profession. The theme chosen is “Female entrepreneurship: what contribution to the consolidation of peace in Burkina Faso?” “.

For ten days, the young girls learned trades such as dyeing, hairdressing, knitting, macramé, saponification and beading.

They were also entitled to communications on peace and social cohesion, responsible sexuality of young people in business, the creation and management of small production units punctuated by cultural evenings.

The learners’ spokesperson, Zalissa Congo, showed the girls’ gratitude to ACCED and its partners.

She, on behalf of her comrades, made a commitment to put into practice the knowledge acquired in their respective localities. She hoped that the initiators of the camp would continue the initiative but also support the young learners with installation kits.

For the Executive Director of the Cri de Coeur Association for Equity and Development (ACCED), Dimbessida Augustin Kaboré, young people must learn to combine studies and professional training.

Mr. Kaboré welcomed the support of the provincial management in charge of youth and thanked the trainers, the theatrical troupe “Le baobab” which provided cultural activities, the defense and security forces and all those who contributed to the success of the camp.

He invited the learners to put into practice what they learned from the training and to be enterprising. He promised to finance them for the purchase of raw materials and the creation of their production units.

The partner representative, Ms. Christine Congo/Sawadogo, hoped that the girls would be able to highlight the knowledge acquired during their training in the field.

She then encouraged the learners and thanked ACCED and the other partners for their investment in the success of the camp.

For the representative of the provincial youth director of Ganzourgou, Colette Zongo, it is an opportunity for girls to benefit from this training.

She thanked the initiators of the camp and expressed the availability of technical youth services to support such initiatives for development.
