Galian: 23 special prizes awarded to deserving journalists

Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso magnified, Friday evening, the merit of its media men and women through the celebration of the 27th night of the Galian competition, during which 23 special prizes were awarded to journalists in the national languages, online press and audiovisual press categories.

One million CFA francs and a trophy. This is the content of each special prize which was awarded to the winners of the Galian 2024 competition, this Friday June 14, 2024 at CENASA.

Journalist Dramane Dadien from national television, in the television category, reporting genre, won the special prize from the General Directorate of Taxes.

Compassion International offered two special prizes which went to journalists Djakaridja Siribié and Abdoulaye Balboné, both from Éditions Sidwaya.

Mahamadi Sebogo from Éditions Sidwaya won the special prize from the Agency for Financing and Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises.

The work ‘One step from retirement… between bitterness and serenity’ by journalist Jules Nikiema won th
e special prize from the Autonomous Retirement Fund for Civil Servants (CARFO) in the online press category, reporting genre.

Journalist Daouda Zongo from Wakate Sera won the special prize from the National Road Safety Office (ONASER) for his work ‘Road accident in Burkina: these maneuvers which could be avoided’.

Mariam Lingané from Mousso News and Willy Sagbé from Burkina 24 were crowned winners of the SUNU Assurances Burkina Faso special prize and the World Health Organization special prize respectively.

Dramane Guéné from national television won the special prize from the presidency of Faso in the television broadcasting category, major report genre.

The special prizes from the ministry in charge of national education and WaterAid went to Sibiri Charles Kaboré, journalist at national radio, and to Maïmouna Traoré/Ouédraogo from RTB Télé.

Herman Bassolé of the online newspaper Lefaso.net received the special prize from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for his remarkable work e
ntitled ‘Humanitarian response in Burkina: Roukiatou Maïga, the amazon who gives hope to displaced people internal to Dori’.

The major innovation of this 27th Galian night is the creation of the ‘Galian kids’ competition prize, which brings into competition students from post-primary and secondary establishments in Burkina Faso with a school newspaper containing information or audiovisual content. information.

According to the Minister in charge of Communication, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, this innovation aims to discover journalistic talents and congratulate the creative ideas of students.

It should be remembered that, according to the organizing committee, for this edition, 148 applications, or 296 works, were received. These works were published or broadcast from January 1 to December 31, 2023 in a media under Burkinabè law in French or in the national language.
