Football: More than a year later, Neymar returns to the Al-Hilal group

After more than a year out due to injury, Neymar is in Al-Hilal’s squad for the Asian Champions League trip to Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, and is due to play again on Monday. “I know you’re impatient, I am too, and on October 21, I’m back”: in a video published by Al-Hilal, the 32-year-old Brazilian star says he is “ready” to play in competition again.

Neymar, who joined Al-Hilal in August 2023 from Paris SG, injured his cruciate ligament and meniscus on October 17 with Brazil in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay. He has only played five matches for the Saudi club so far.

“I suffer every day that I stay away, that’s what hurts me the most,” the player explained, in tears, in a video published on YouTube on Saturday.

“I’ve come back every time I’ve been injured, and I don’t come back halfway,” he warned, the video ending with the next competitions targeted by the Brazilian, until the 2026 World Cup.

The absence of the Brazilian star, paid around 100 million euros per season according to the media, has not affected the results of his new club, which last season won the national championship for the 19th time.
